BUILDING CODES

When the Legislature approved tougher windstorm and hurricane building code requirements in 2000, the Panhandle region secured an exemption. While new construction within a mile of the coast is subject to the code, Florida House Speaker Allan Bense (R-Panama City) thinks it's time to look at bringing the entire Panhandle's building code in line with the rest of the state.
