NEW Real Estate Bill

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- April 27, 2006 -- FAR’s Chapter 475 legislation, HB 1009 by Rep. Larry Cretul (R-Ocala), passed the House yesterday. The bill makes a number of changes to laws affecting real estate brokers, sales associates and schools. It would repeal the advance fees statute, raise the administrative fine ceilings to be consistent with other professions, and allow the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) to hold brokers more accountable for escrow violations and unsupervised sales associates.

A Senate version of the bill, SB 1816 by Sen. Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) is in its last committee.
