HOMEOWNERSHIP

New research from the University of Southern California Lusk Center for Real Estate shows that there are "sizeable and persistent" racial gaps in homeownership. Homeownership rates reached 68.6 percent nationwide in second quarter 2004, with 76 percent for non-Hispanic whites, 50 percent for African Americans and 47 percent for Hispanics.

BEST PLACE TO LIVE

It's good to be in Venice or Bonita Springs, Fla. At least, that's according to Relocate-America, where the two cities in the Sunshine State ranked sixth and seventh, respectively, on the firm's annual list of America's Top 100 Places to Live. Cities are nominated by residents nationwide.
While Spencer, Iowa, and Long Beach, N.Y., topped the list, 20 Florida locales were noted, including Celebration, Fort Walton Beach, Hunters Creek, Lakeland, Melbourne, Naples, Port St. Lucie, Sanford, Sebastian and Winter Haven. The complete list can be found at:
