DBPR taking fingerprints electronically - tampa realtor
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- April 12, 2006 -- The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) announced that electronic fingerprinting is now available to all real estate licensure applicants. Electronic fingerprinting benefits applicants by reducing the likelihood of illegible fingerprints or missing information on the fingerprint card. DBPR contracted an outside electronic fingerprinting vendor to handle the process.
“The department is excited about the move to electronic fingerprint reporting for real estate applicants,” says DBPR Secretary Simone Marstiller. “I encourage real estate applicants to take advantage of this new, faster, more reliable process.”
Electronic fingerprinting becomes mandatory on July 1, 2006, for all real estate sales associate and real estate broker applicants. DBPR has taken steps to provide real estate applicants the opportunity to begin utilizing an electronic process now to submit their fingerprints.
The electronic process allows applicants to have their fingerprints scanned and electronically submitted to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Federal Bureau of Investigation. The process typically takes 48 to 72 hours, whereas the paper copy method previously in use took three to six weeks.
Reservations and payment can be made by visiting the Promissor reservation Web site at www.promissor.com and selecting Fingerprinting Services, or by calling their toll-free reservation number at (877) 238.8232 (TTY 1.800.274.2617). The fee for electronic fingerprinting is $61.
Additional information regarding electronic fingerprinting can be found online in PDF format at www.state.fl.us/dbpr/dbpr/electronic_fingerprinting/faq.pdf or www.asisvcs.com/publications/pdf/091003.pdf.
